Teased since October, Chinese phone maker Vivo has now officially announced the XPlay 3S that sports a 6-inch, 2K (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) IPS display. Do the math, and you’ll realise it has a pixel density of 490ppi, the highest we’ve seen in a smartphone to date. (The previous PPI champ is the HTC One (468ppi), but that has a 4.7-inch screen with a full HD resolution.)

Other specs of the Vivo Xplay 3S include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (8974-AB) SoC (quad-core Krait 400 at 2.3GHz, Adreno 330 GPU at 550MHz), 3GB RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera with an F1.8 aperture lens, a 5-megapixel front camera, a fingerprint scanner at the back, a 3,200mAh battery, and 32GB built-in storage. Music fans will also appreciate the top-grade chips onboard: the ESS Technology ES9018 DAC and the Texas Instruments OPA2604 amplifier, as well as DTS Headphones:X for surround sound support. The phone runs the company's Funtouch OS, which is based on Android.
